Description
Callow Hall is situated at the gateway to the Peak National Park, close to the lively market town of Ashbourne.
Set in 44 acres of garden, fields and woodland outlooking the Bentley Brook and vale of the River Dove. Callow is a haven of peace of tranquility but also a perfect base for exploring the splendours that Derbyshire and the 'Peaks' have to offer.
The Spencer family personally run and manage both the acclaimed hotel and fine restaurant, whilst their friendly and caring staff provide attentive, yet unobtrusive, service.
The hotel has 16 en suite bedrooms in total, all individually and tastefully furnished to provide every comfort, and some with uninterrupted views across the countryside. One ground floor room is equipped for disabled guests, with wheelchair access to the outside and ground floor of the hotel.
Dining at Callow Hall is an experience not to be missed! The Spencer's are justly proud of their reputation for freshly prepared and home produced food, including home baking, smoking and curing; crafts which have been passed down through the family, master bakers in Ashbourne since 1724.
Dining at Callow Hall is a relaxing and pleasant experience. Take an aperitif in the cosy bar or elegant drawing room and then indulge in the finest cuisine Derbyshire has to offer! Intimate dinners for two or a more lively affair with friends & family can all be accommodated here. We have private dining available for either business dinners or gatherings of a more light hearted nature! (The maximum we can accommodate in one of our private rooms is 40.)
All our produce is freshly prepared on the premises including our own oak smoked salmon, our ever popular home made sausages, home cured bacon, freshly baked bread and so on. Anthony Spencer is the second-generation chef at Callow Hall bringing his own style to the kitchen. He calls upon experience & qualifications gained both at home and abroad to provide an exciting and tantalising menu combining traditional elements with a more modern style, whilst remaining true to the natural flavours of the freshest ingredients.
Anthony's father David Spencer travels to Birmingham Market to personally select the finest fish, meat and vegetables to tempt the palate.
David has a lifetime's experience of catering, his family being bakers in Ashbourne since 1725, and despite becoming a true pensioner this year (!), his expertise and professionalism are an invaluable resource to the Callow kitchens and to the community at large.
Our wine list offers a comprehensive selection of 150 bins from around the globe, with a price range to suit all pockets!
