Derby City Council are considering
changing their licensing procedures to speed up the appeal process for
taxi drivers. The taxi licensing and appeals committee currently
decides if drivers should lose their licences for breaching conditions.
The
committee meets every three weeks to hear appeals. Councillors will
consider giving officers the power to deal with more appeals from
drivers without the need to go to committee. Having simpler cases
decided by officers would cut the amount of time drivers had to wait to
hear appeal outcomes. |
