All of the movers in Derbyshire's food and drink were celebrating recently following the Derbyshire Food and Drink Awards at the prestigious Thornbridge Hall in Ashford-in-the-Water. The finest eateries and establishments in the area were awarded in a wide range of catagories designed to promote the best businesses in the region. The organisations were judged on a range of criteria such as the
quality of food and drink, use of county produce and customer service
by a panel of independant food specialists.
The winning establishments included The Strand in Matlock For Bistro of the Year,
Fischer's of Baslow Hall with Restaurant of the Year and the
Cavendish Rooms at Chatsworth, winning Best Restaurant within an
attraction. Best international restaurant went to La Romana at Moorwood Moor near Crich and Wirksworth's Le Mistral was highly commended. In the Pub catagory, Chequers Inn at Froggatt and The Druid Inn at Birchover was highly commended.
Presented by celebrity chef Brian Turner, all awards were celebrated as a continuing success for Derbyshire food and drink.
