| Six friends have grouped together and raised over £7000 for Cancer Research UK by cycling more than 220 miles from the west coast of Northern England over to the East coast. The
cyclists, friends from the Jug and Glass pub in the village, took part in the four-day adventure that took them from
St Bees in Cumbria across to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire.
Steve Gill, one of the cyclist said “The group have been overwhelmed by
the support of their friends and families and corporate sponsors and
has raised more than £7,000." He went on to say that many of the regulars at the local pub and the cyclists themselves have had their families affected by cancer, so the charity was particularly relevant.
There are no plans to follow this event with another, but the group have admitted that they are thinking about how they can top this acheivement next time.
