Peacefully situated in the hamlet of Swinscoe in the heart of the Peak District stands the splendid 17th century inn, the Dog and Partridge. Here Mary and Martin Stelfox invite you to enjoy good food, comfortable surroundings and warm hospitality.
Guests will find it easy to relax in the traditional bar with its olde worlde character and charm, and its welcoming log fires in winter. Food is served all day as requested. The wide ranging menu features local specialities of Staffordshire oatcakes with a variety of savoury fillings, chefs special pies and local trout as well as a good range of traditional dishes, steaks and grills.
A la carte meals are served from 5:30pm till late in the spacious restaurant, providing still greater choice with imaginative cuisine supplemented by an extensive wine list. To ensure that children enjoy their stay here as much as their parents, there are both outdoor and indoor play areas, extensive lawns and gardens, baby listening facilities in all rooms, highchairs and cots.

The surrounding countryside is truly a walkers' and sightseers' paradise. High open moorland gives way to peaceful, picturesque Dales with gently flowing rivers and breath taking sweeps of limestone cliffs. Visit cave systems and mines, wildlife parks and bird sanctuaries, stately homes and gardens. There are numerous industrial heritage museums, steam railways and towns each with its own character. And of course, the ever popular Alton Towers is just a short drive away.
Accommodation at The Dog and Partridge is purpose-built and situated in the grounds. All rooms have en-suite facilities and are equipped with colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, clock radio, direct dial telephone, ample heating and hot water.
