The Derbyshire Dales has recently
unveiled four new evnvironmentally friendly homes that are hoped to be
a sign of things to come. Heated by ground source heat pumps, these
properties help to cut emissions for heating and will provide a
constant heat to their inhabitants. In addition to this, the homes have
been built from locally sourced stone to reduce the transportation
costs; both environmental and financial.
Thanks to a grant
from the Housing Corporation, and funding from the district council and
Nottingham Community
Housing Association, these four houses, known as Meadow Cottages, are
hoped to be the beginning of things to come. The area has been
identified as an area short on housing, and these homes are certainly a
step in the right direction. There have bene calls for more affordable
housing, an issue that the Derbyshire Dales District Council will be
addressing in the near future. |
