A halt on plans to build a
controversial waste recycling plant at a Dales beauty spot has been put in place until environmental issues regarding the site are resolved. The applicants,
Taywell Composting Ltd, have submitted a revised application for a plant at
Bonsall's New Dunsley Mill after withdrawing previous plans ealier in the year.
However a spokeswoman for Derbyshire County Council said the Environment Agency had not got sufficient information on pollution control and drainage at the site and was waiting for a reponse from the applicant.
Residents and councillors met in Cromford recently to discuss the plans, where it was revealed that the Environment Agency did not have sufficient information on pollution
control and drainage at the site and was waiting for a reponse from the
applicant. County
and district councillor Irene Ratcliffe, who was present at the meeting, said: "Fundamentally this operation is unsuited to the special
landscape and qualities of the Via Gellia and the communities of
Bonsall and Cromford."
If approved the plant would be looking to compost 19,000 tonnes of waste a year. |
