Edale Mountain Rescue Team members were called out to a massive five incidents earlier this month .
One
day they helped a walker who had slipped on Derwent Edge and sustained
a bad laceration to his head. They then carried a climber, who had
fallen from Stanage Edge near Hathersage, to an air ambulance that flew
him to hospital.
Two
calls were then received simultaneously. The first was another climber
who had fallen around 50 feet from Millstone Edge near Hathersage. He
was treated for head and back injuries and flown to hospital for
further treatment. The second was to a runner on Baslow Edge who had
suffered a reccurrence of an existing heart condition.
And
on the next day the hard working team were called to a climber at
Froggatt Edge who had fallen and fractured his ankle. He was flown by
air ambulance to Chesterfield.
The team have attended 85 incidents so far in 2008 more than they attended during the whole of 2007. |
