John
Bather, the Lord Lieutenant of
Derbyshire is looking to Dales residents to nominate volunteers that have put others first and given their all for a royal award. The Queen’s Award not only serves to provide recognition of volunteer
groups, but also demonstrates the high respect in which volunteering is
held. This award is very highly regarded, and is of equivalance to an MBE.
In support of the scheme, Mr Bather stated that "The
award has proved an important way of bringing recognition to those
often hidden groups who have dedicated themselves to improving local
people's lives."
