Description
The Peacock at Rowsley is a small luxury hotel located in the famous Peak District in the heart of England, and conveniently close to the major towns of Chesterfield, Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham and Derby.
Acquired by Lord Edward Manners, owner of nearby Haddon Hall, the hotel has been refurbished throughout and styled by award winning designer India Mahdavi.
Stylish accommodation in 16 luxury bedrooms
Our 16 comfortable and luxuriously appointed bedrooms were completely refurbished at the beginning of 2004. Most of our double rooms have king size or superking-size beds, including one four-poster and another antique bed originally from Belvoir Castle.
Each room has been individually styled by India Mahdavi, an award winning international designer, who has added a contemporary and comfortable feel to this ancient building, and the many pieces of antique furniture and old pictures that adorn it.
Fine Food and Wine
Our 2AA Rosettes Awarded main Restaurant, and the more intimate Wye Room offer delicious food in peaceful surroundings for a leisurely lunch or dinner with views onto the garden. Head Chef, Matthew Rushton trained by Gordon Ramsey, has developed a mouth watering menu using wherever possible delicious local ingredients, and our wine list features a wide range of wines from around the world.
Private Dining
The Wye and Derwent rooms can be taken as private dining rooms for business entertaining or private parties from 4 to 20 guests. You can choose from our a la carte menu or consult with us to design your very own personalised menu. Whichever room you choose, and for whatever the occasion, we want you relax and entertain your guests in the privacy of your own dining room.
Luxury meetings rooms for 2 to 16 delegates
Being a small 16 bedroom luxury hotel we are particularly suitable for senior level meetings for 2 to 20 delegates in our two private dining rooms, with antique oak tables and leather chairs, which can be converted into conference rooms with all modern facilities if needed.
Unwind, relax and keep fit
To unwind after a busy day or to spend quality time with your colleagues or clients we can recommend:
Free golf on the beautiful and challenging nine hole Bakewell Golf Club overlooking the Wye Valley and a mere ten minute drive from the hotel.
Some of the best fly fishing in the country on seven miles of the Derbyshire Wye.
Reduced rate access to a well equipped fitness centre close by; wellbeing treatments by arrangement; and a superb location for running or walking in the surrounding Peak District countryside.
Fly fishing on the River Wye and River Derwent
We offer our guests seven miles of some of the best dry fly trout fishing in the UK, and the Haddon Estate's Head Riverkeeper is always available for helpful advice.
The River Wye is unique in being the only river in the country with wild rainbow trout in addition to our rare strain of brown trout. We also have two rods on the Derwent, for residents only, part of which runs through the Peacock garden.
We sell a range of fishing equipment at Reception including boxes of flies and cast
